At Two Thumb, sustainability is part of how we brew, build, and operate every day.
From our solar-powered brewery on Colombo Street to supporting local growers and suppliers across Canterbury, we believe making good beer should also mean doing things the right way.
Brewing Smarter
Our Colombo Street brewery was built with sustainability in mind.
We use solar power, rainwater catchment systems, and on-site wastewater treatment to help reduce our environmental footprint while brewing fresh local beer for our communities.
Rainwater is also reused around the brewery and helps support our edible gardens on site.
We’re always looking at practical ways to improve how we brew and operate.
Supporting Local
For us, sustainability also means supporting local.
We source local ingredients wherever possible, from malt and hops through to ingredients used across our kitchens and taprooms.
At Two Thumb Harbourside, around 75% of our wine list comes from Banks Peninsula and surrounding producers.
Supporting local means fresher ingredients, fewer transport miles, and keeping more support within our own communities.
Built Around Community
Our brew bars are built to bring people together.
Live music, quiz nights, fundraisers, shared tables, dogs in the courtyard, catching up over a pint after work. We want our venues to feel relaxed, welcoming and genuinely local.
Because good beer is always better with good people around it.
Looking Ahead
We know sustainability is an ongoing process, and there’s always more to learn and improve on.
But we believe small changes, local support, and better long-term choices all add up over time.
Because at the end of the day, sustainability isn’t a trend for us.
